Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Tailgate Van

Together with our friends at Mercedes-Benz of Nanuet, HQ Custom Design had the privilege of working on creating the ultimate tailgate van on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis. Built for the sports and outdoor enthusiast, this loaded van allows you and your fellow die hard fans to show up to the game in supreme style and comfort. For importantly, since the van was planned on being used during tailgating events outside of sports stadiums or for outdoor adventures, it was vital for the van to be able to usable without having to keep the engine running or hooking up the shore power. To achieve this end, dual solar  panels were installed onto the roof of the Sprinter van, along with additional batteries, in order to ensure that entertainment remains running throughout the whole day. In the past, HQ has built other vans for tailgating enthusiasts, although this particular project provided our team with more creative freedom to build something that would be a must have for any PGA, NFL, NCAA, NHL, MLS, NBA, MLB, NASCAR, or soccer / fútbol fan.

Overview of the Conversion Project 

For this project, the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 170” extended offered the most amount of passenger cabin space with sufficient space in the rear to fit the tailgating entertainment center. The 170” extended chassis was preferable compared to the regular 170” model as the additional 18 inches provides ample space for the rear entertainment area, without the need of having to compensate room or the comfort factor of the riders within the passenger cabin. What make this tailgate Mercedes-Benz Sprinter stand out from other builds is its versatile layout, which allows the vehicle to function as a multi passenger van with its luxurious and refined interior cabin space featuring captain seating and a plethora of amenities. For those wanting to avoid poor weather conditions whether it be too much shine or rain, the passenger cabin serves as an area to keep cool or dry respectively, without missing any of the action on screen with 2 TV displays equipped for ready viewing. If you are wanting to create the perfect mobile space for any golf, soccer / fútbol, ice hockey, baseball, basketball, football, or NASCAR fan then this particular Mercedes-Benz Sprinter is a must have to support their favorite sports teams in a high-end custom environment.

Rear Entertainment Center for Tailgating and Outdoor Events

By far the rear entertainment center remains the highlight of this particular build, sporting a 50” HD LED TV display with 2 front speakers featuring surround sound audio with a sub woofer and Apple TV. Of course, for the Apple TV to function it requires an internet connection, which has been covered by a cabin WiFi router to allow laptops, mobile devices, and tablets to remain online while on-the-go or parked. In addition, a shore power unit was installed in the rear to enable the van to be plugged in when parked to recharge. A margin of space has been left in the rear to enable a small amount of storage space that works well for holding portable ice coolers for lugging food and drinks, or hauling a portable grill.

A Refined Passenger Cabin

Upon entrance within the passenger cabin, one cannot help to pause out at the magnificence of this jaw dropping custom interior featuring a beige Ultraleather cabin and a suede roof, along with wood like flooring. Featuring 4 – 20 inch frame captain chairs with leg extensions and power recline in Ultraleather upholstery. Each captain chair also comes with an anterior USB and AC outlets for plugging in charging cables, along with cup holders and seating controls for each. Behind the 2 forward facing captain chairs, lies a rear bi-fold sofa bed capable of fitting 2-3 passengers, or even more so capable of reclining outwards into a small bed that works well for taking a midday nap during a commute. A rear partition 32” HD LED TV with 2 rear speakers, a forward partition 42” HD LED TV with multi sectional front speakers, and sub woofer make up the interior entertainment center and audiophile surround system respectively. The front partition middle console is made up of 2 cup holders for the rearwards facing captain chairs, a small cabinet for storing personal belongings, and a draw refrigerator that serves great for holding beverages and small food items while in transit. All settings for the passenger cabin and rear cabin are configurable via custom iPad control software for audio and video controls. Ultimately, this Mercedes-Benz Sprinter tailgate van aims to wear a wide variety of hats, and is designed more with practicality and daily usage in mind rather than exclusively for sporting or outdoor events.
