Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Athletic Team Transport Van

HQ Custom Design had the recent pleasure of partnering with the Harlem Wizards basketball team to create a luxurious Mercedes-Benz Sprinter athletics team transport. HQ has had a handful of prior experience in designing vans for other sports and athletic teams including college universities, golf teams and basketball teams. For this build, our client had envisioned van capable of transporting a total of nine passengers made up of team members plus entertainment staff to and from scheduled shows, schools, and other planned public events. The Sprinter was developed with a focus on providing spacious comfort to allow each passenger to have ample freedom to use the captain seating back recline and leg extensions features., Other  requirements included entertainment options for the passenger cabin and a dedicated storage space for valuables and other important personal belongings. The result was a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter that contained the practical element of shuttle to transport passengers from point A to B, along with the appeal and functionality of a refined conversion van. Emphasis on Passenger Comfort & Spaciousness

This passenger van features eight 20-inch frame luxury captain chairs that include 3-point seat belts, power recline and leg extensions. Four of the eight seats include swivel functions that enable passengers to rotate their chairs in a full 360 degrees.. Each chair is Ultra leather upholstered with an all black main and middle face that contains a diamond checkered stitching pattern with white piping  To uphold the main emphasis of this project, the design of the floor plan features four rows of two chars to emphasize comfort and space. Regardless of someone’s height, each seat is guaranteed to provide the maximum amount of space for each passengers’ ideal seating position. Adjacent controls for each chair allow for passengers to switch from a flat sleeping position to an upright position for watching TV. For the driver cabin, the driver and co-pilot chairs are re-upholstered with front seat recovers made to match the captain seating found in the passenger cabin.

Elegant Passenger Cabin Filled with Class

While the passenger cabin itself features an OEM ceiling and  AC / heating system, elegance is still very much included via a wood-like floor, wood laminate valances, side moldings, rear middle console and cup holders. Black manual window shades were chosen to match the black captain seating to allow passengers to control light exposure and respective privacy levels. Furthermore, this van includes two mini refrigerators with one located at the driver cabin that dual serves as a middle console replacement, along with in the rear where a drawer refrigerator lies below the two rearmost chairs. Storing a large quantity of belongings was not considered to be a must, although some peace of mind was needed for the storage of important personal items. To address this, two storage safes were included in the rear behind the last row of chairs, which are accessible via the trunk.

Loaded with a Entertainment Options

To make entertainment available to all,  a 32-inch TV display with two front speakers was included in an overhead bulkhead cabinet. The two front speakers are a part of a larger surround audio system  to create home theatre-like sound quality. In terms of actual entertainment, there was an Apple TV for streaming movies and TV shows, along with Sony PlayStation 4 for the first two rows of passengers to play video games. A WiFi router was included for passengers to connect their mobile devices and laptops for Internet access, in addition to enabling online functions for the Apple TV and PS4.

Harlem Wizards Approved

The Harlem Wizards roster travels long uninterrupted distances when going from one event to the next, as the team performs across all states nationwide in their pursuit to bring comedy, fun and inclusiveness to the game of basketball. Based upon client feedback, the Harlem Wizards are enjoying their brand new Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van as it serves as their prime transportation choice.  Additionally, it also serves as a home hub, for both the entertainment staff and team members use the van for weekend travels with their friends and families. We at HQ are indeed happy and satisfied to know that the Wizards are getting such rounded usage from their Sprinter van, and hope it stays in good use use for the years to come!
