Return to Previous Page

The Ford’s Transit line offers a considerable amount of variation. There are two wheelbases, three roof heights, plenty of optional equipment, and three powerful engine options to suit your needs. If this is your first time purchasing a van, checking out the 2018 Ford Transit will be an excellent idea. Let’s find out more about the van in this auto spotlight:

Safety and Comfort

Standard safety features found in the 2018 Ford Transit include the latest Tire Pressure Monitoring System, front airbags, a rearview camera, anti-lock brakes, and AdvanceTrac with roll stability control. While it has received five star ratings for side impact and four stars in frontal crash tests by NHTSA, it has not been tested for rollover scenarios at the moment. As you can see, these factory-fitted safety features are essential for such a large vehicle.

When it comes to comfort, Ford Transit never disappoints. There are plenty of creature comforts in the latest Transit line. With improved seating, you can customize your Ford Transit van into a work van and create an experience that is less truck-like. You may be pleased to know that the front seats come with armrests, and the large windshield and low window sill offer an expansive view ahead.

Performance

Ford Transit vans remain sharply responsive due to its phenomenal engine power. Here are some of its performance details:

  • –  3.5L Ecoboost V6
  • –  3.2L I-5 Power Stroke Turbo Diesel
  • –  3.7L TI-VCT V6

The 2018 Ford Transit wishes to offer something for just about every commercial buyer. That’s why there are three engine options to choose from. The base model comes with a 3.7-liter V6 engine that offers 260 pounds of torque and 275 horsepower. If you constantly need to navigate through terrain that features higher elevations or require more hauling power, the 3.5L Ecoboost engine will fit your needs with 310 horsepower and 400 pounds of torque.

Do keep in mind that all three engine options are paired with 6-speed automatic transmissions. Power is usually delivered to the rear wheels. While the Transit line is not as maneuverable in town, it has a consistent track record of offering excellent high-speed stability.

Driving & Handling

Ford Transit vans are known to offer the best visibility and the best driving position. Apart from being able to handle all speeds securely, its power steering is precise and maneuverability is nimble.
